By joining the Grand Canyon Hikers and Backpackers Association you will be able to take pride in the fact that you have joined a group of people who are concerned about the Grand Canyon and how it can be protected for hikers and backpackers to enjoy both now and in the future.

By becoming a member you will also gain more direct access to the complete GCHBA member community than would be possible by simply posting messages to the Grand Canyon Hikers Forum. Direct e-mail contact with other members can be an invaluable asset when attempting to plan a long, multi-day trek into the more obscure and remote regions of the Grand Canyon. Before attempting a trip into any of these regions it is always better to talk to someone who has been there before you.

When you join the Grand Canyon Hikers and Backpackers Association you will also become entitled to receive our newsletter, Grand Canyon Footprints. Footprints can be viewed online, with the most recent issue viewable only by paid members. This publication  includes trip reports and other stories written by members of the association as well as serving to be a written reminder of upcoming events and areas of concern.

Members are also entitled to join in on our service projects which are generally at the Indian Garden, Bright Angel or Cottonwood campgrounds. See the events calendar for information on the next project

Your initial membership dues will cover the partial year from your join date through the following July 1st, plus the entire next year. Thereafter dues are payable each July 1st. Basic dues are $20 per year for and a membership and you will be notified by email or US mail when the renewal date approaches.
